Heart Attack from Festival Fantasia on Vimeo.

Yoon, a graphic designer and photo retoucher for the Thai fashion-mag industry, is a full-blown workaholic. He barely finds time to sleep, much less maintain any sort of a social life, in his constant quest to meet even the most impossible deadlines. His professional drive might be limitless, but his body doesn’t match it. After going five nights straight without sleep, Yoon discovers weird rashes popping up on his skin. Against his maniacally industrious instincts, he allows himself a quick visit to the doctor. After an exasperatingly interminable wait, he gets his brief allotment of time with Doctor Imm. She’s young, very pretty, and sees right through Yoon’s façade. Now Yoon has a more serious medical condition than mere stress-induced skin irritation: he’s starting to show the symptoms of serious heartache. He’ll need to book another appointment with Doctor Imm…

Have you been suffering from a rom-com deficiency in your system? Feeling a lack of love, laughs and life lessons? Fantasia has just what the doctor ordered: a delicious dose of amorous antics, Thai-style, from rising-star screenwriter and director Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit (36, MARY IS HAPPY, MARY IS HAPPY). Keeping the dosage just right in all respects, Thamrongrattanarit lets the goofiness of his young professionals speak for itself, avoiding overblown buffoonery and sketching out convincing, engaging portraits of his characters. Displaying a mastery of tone, pacing, and deadpan wit, Thamrongrattanarit has concocted the perfect medicine for the heart and the funnybone alike.
