Gon is a 12-year-old lad, following in the footsteps of his absent father, following the demanding course of training at the academy. He certainly has time to make a few friends, though. Like Killua, a kid his own age who hails from a family of assassins and his mastered the trade under the cold, merciless mentorship of his brother Illumi. And there’s scarlet-eyed Kurapika, sole survivor of the Kurta clan massacred by the villainous organization Phantom Rouge from the slum of Meteor City. And there’s Leorio, seemingly money-obsessed but in truth driven by his best friend’s death to make the world a better place.

Whoa, hold on… what kind of academy is this, anyway? It’s the Hunter Academy, that’s what. Hunters are a rare breed, people whose extraordinary skills and powers qualify them for tasks beyond the abilities of most. Bounty hunters, soldiers of fortune, clandestine operatives, wranglers of rare and amazing creatures, and seekers of lost treasure — if it’s a job no one can handle, then call on no one but the Hunters!

As young as they are, our heroes are haunted by tragedies in their past, and long for lost close ones. That’s why Kurapika is so easily lured by a dead ringer for his lost relative Pairo — who promptly steals his eyes! Blinded and hospitalized, with his friends at his side, Kurapika may not have sight but he does have visions, and can see the villain responsible for the dire events that are afoot. It’s a man with a spider tattoo on the palm of his hand — the sign of Phantom Rouge! Gon and Killua embark on their mission to uncover the truth, but soon discover that not everyone is who they claim to be, and the web being woven is ever more tangled and treacherous. The stage is set for secrets and conspiracies, fantastic wonders and furious action, as Yoshihiro Togashi’s hugely popular manga series makes its big-screen anime debut!
