In recognition of his past contributions to martial arts films and the celebration of Bruce Lee's 70th birthday, a special award, the Legendary Kung Fu Star Award, will be given to Hong Kong action star Bruce Leung on Saturday, July 10, during the screening of GALLANTS (Canadian Premiere). Best remembered by Western audiences as the Beast, the main baddie in Stephen Chow’s KUNG FU HUSTLE, Leung’s legacy goes back to the ’70s when he began his career playing supporting characters and working as an action director. For the next 20 years, he thrilled audiences. After a 15-year absence, he returned in 2004. In his latest film, GALLANTS, he appears as an aging student whose past glories are behind him but must use his super-strength once again. Also in attendance at the screening will be co-director Clement Cheng.
