PRIVATE EYE: International Premiere of Exuberant South Korean Period Detective Story

July 29th, 2009 09:08:00

Turn of the century Korea is lovingly recreated for this period tale of a tabloid photographer who stumbles upon a murder involving the son of a high-ranking government official.

An anomaly in the Korean film canon – which has tackled virtually every other known genre - PRIVATE EYE is a must-see for fans of the eloquent thrills and sometimes outright seediness of Arthur Conan Doyle’s original Sherlock Holmes’ tales. Hwang Jung-Min (BLACK HOUSE) and Ryu Deok-hwa (LIKE A VIRGIN) are convincing complements to the Holmes/Watson super-duo, but filtered through their own socio-political landscape to offer up a uniquely Asian flavour.

PRIVATE EYE plays Wednesday July 29th at 7:40pm in the Salle JA de Seve. Full details, including description, images, trailer, website and more on the film page HERE.
