On Sunday and Monday, the dread and enthusiasm generated by the movie ‘Alone’, added to the presence of the filmmakers Banjong Pisanthanakun, Parkpoom Wongpoom and co-screen writer Aummarapon Phandintong, really put the festivalgoers’ vocal cords to the test. Following the devastating success of ‘4bia’, which earned a public’s award, the two masters of horror from Thailand were ready for the crowds.

The two screenings of ‘Alone’ unrolled agitatedly. Fantasia’s public still undoubtedly remembered ‘Shutter’, screened at the festival two years ago, and were clearly anticipating fright. They weren’t deceived. Afterwards, the trio proceeded to answer rounds of questions. Once more, Hollywood’s habit to create remakes and the migration of international talents towards the USA were at the core of the crowds’ interrogations. Based on their answers, we can guess that these filmmakers plan to stay in Thailand. As for the remakes, they do not have control over their making, as shown in the American remake of ‘Shutter’. Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom briefly discussed future projects and their desire to work individually, which by no means implies that they won’t work together again.

Interestingly, some of our guests from Thailand enjoyed Fantasia to the point that they decided to extend their stay and visit our regions.
