Short Film Programs : Watch Out! Beyond the Genres of Korean Short Films

Watch Out! Beyond the Genres of Korean Short FilmsSix years ago, prominent Korean filmmakers Bong Jun-ho (The Host), Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters and The Quiet Family), Ryu Seung-wan (The City of Violence, screening this year at Fantasia), Jang Jun-hwan (Save the Green Planet!), Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) and many more teamed up to create the Mise-en-Scène Genres Film Festival in Korea. This festival's main objective was to discover Korean short films of various genres. These directors aimed to share their knowledge and experience, encouraging young filmmakers and the film industry to produce short films. Since then, this reinvigorated movement has increased the visibility and appeal of Korean short films both locally and internationally. Fantasia invites you to experience a number of these Korean short films, many of them selections and award-winners from the Mise-en-Scène Genres Film Festival and other renowned festivals. Presented by Indiestory. - Mi-Jeong Lee
