As a special bonus, the Chinese Taipei Film Archive has loan us the classic female revenge film Lady Avenger, transferred from the only surviving copy in the world! This full-length feature film has been unseen in North America for 25 years, making its welcome return to complement the North American premiere of Hou Chi-Jan’s Taiwan Black Movies. Lady Avenger is directed by Yang Chia Yun, the only female director of the genre, and features the charming and lovely Liu Hsiao Fen, the Queen of Black Cinema.
The film is about a young woman who is raped by four men and then taken advantage by a fifth. Abandoned by her fiancé, she strikes back at the fives wolves. Wild and exciting, filled with nasty violence and highly creative killing sequences, this is Taiwanese exploitation cinema at its furious finest.
