Description

Bon Cop Bad Cop stars Patrick Huard and Colm Feore as a pair of cops, from Quebec and Ontario respectively, who must work as a team to crack a series of crimes which target the national sport – hockey. Based on an idea of Huard’s, Bon Cop Bad Cop is the first completely bilingual Canadian film, promising to delight the nation from coast to coast this summer. David Bouchard (Huard) and Martin Ward (Feore) couldn’t be more different : one is a French-speaking Montrealer, the other a Toronto anglo. One obeys the law, the other makes his own. When the’ye obligated to work together on an investigation for which the geographic jurisdiction is a vague as the motives of the crime, their differences will at times jeopardize the process, at others help them in ways they couldn’t count on alone. Beyond Huard and Feore, the film stars Patrice Bélanger, Sylvain Marcel, Lucie Laurier, Sarain Boylan, Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse, Erik Knudsen, Hugolin Chevrette, Rick Howland and André Robitaille. The production benefits as well from cameos by Ron Fournier, Louis-José Houde, Ron Lea, Rick Mercer, Gilles Renaud and Nanette Workman, and is based on an original idea from Patrick Huard, who also co-wrote the feature’s script.

Érik Canuel has been recognized for some years now for his work in advertising, music videos and the direction of television series, including episodes of Fortier, which earned him a Prix Gémeau nomination. In cinema, he brought us last year’s popular and critically successful Le Survenant, based on the book by Germaine Gučvremont. As well, Canuel is responsible for directing Le dernier tunnel, Nez rouge and the thriller La loi du cochon. The filmmaker also directed the IMAX documentary Hemingway : A Portrait, which won a Génie for best documentary short feature, as well as the Maximum Image Award from Miami Aventura Imax Days. The coming year will be an exciting one for Canuel, who, in addition to launching Bon Cop Bad Cop, will soon dive into directing his next film, Cadavres.
