Submissions FAQ
  • No entry fee is charged to filmmakers or distributors who would like to submit their work.
  • Both NTSC and PAL are acceptable as screener formats for submissions. Further, we welcome detailed press kits, though they are not required.
  • While we are an event primarily dedicated to feature films, we are always interested in showcasing shorts at the festival. Many selected shorts screen in competition.
  • Our screening format of choice is 35mm. We are nonetheless open to screening from 16mm, BetaSP and miniDV sources in the event where a production was never completed in the 35mm gauge.
  • A completed entry form must be included with all submissions
  • For those of you submitting from outside of Canada, it is important that you not place a high dollar value on your package or your screener might not clear customs. We recommend that you indicate that your tape or disc is “for cultural purposes only, no commercial value”. If you do place a dollar value, please limit it to the cost of the blank media.
  • Due to the overwhelming volume of submissions we receive, FanTasia will only be contacting applicants whose films are accepted to the festival.
